Set within the heart of Richmond only 1 km from the CBD within a mix of dwellings, offices and warehouses this project presented both unique opportunities and many challenges. The vacant site of only 125m2 required carefully considered planning that respected the adjacent heritage listed dwelling and avoided overshadowing or overlooking whilst meeting the project brief.
The final three-storey residence of 200m² comprises an open plan kitchen – living zone plus 3 bedrooms, study, 2.5 bathrooms, a car-space and a private landscaped courtyard.
The modern and low-maintenance design features extensive use of common materials such as exposed brick, weatherboards and sheet metal to sympathetically integrate with the established streetscape whilst providing expansive views towards the city and allowing ample natural light to flood the interior.
